When you hear the word "water" you may think of the water in a glass or bathtub.
That is the kind of water which you are most familiar with.
However there is another kind of water.

Let me explain.
you need lost of water to grow wheat for bread.
Research shows that you need 2000 liters of water to produce one kilogram of wheat.
You also need 2000 liters of water to produce beef?
The reason is that a lot of feed is necessary to raise cattle.
Water is needed to produce that feed.
Since Japan cannot produce enough wheat or beef it imports a lot of both of these products from abroad.
And this means that we are indirectly importing a large amount of water.
